Unlawful Damage Charges at Pinjar

State Security Investigation Group detectives have charged two men as part of an investigation into a recent incident involving damage being caused to energy supply infrastructure in Pinjar.
On Saturday 20 May 2023, damage caused to electrical wiring on a Western Power pole in Pinjar resulted in a pole fire. The fire caused extensive damage to the pole and electrical wiring.
As part of the investigation, detectives from the State Security Investigation Group executed a search warrant at a residence in Banksia Grove on Thursday 17 August 2023.
Two men, aged 32 and 21, both from Banksia Grove, have been charged with Unlawful Damage. They are both due to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on Monday 2 October 2023.
Western Power takes the security and safety of the network seriously, and its Security and Investigation teams work closely with WA Police Force and other stakeholders to investigate all offences against Western Power assets and critical infrastructure.
Anyone who sees suspicious activity in the vicinity of energy supply infrastructure is asked to call Police immediately on 131 444.
