Unlawful use of motor vehicles at Gold Coast

Police are currently investigating a number of incidents on the Gold Coast involving two stolen vehicles from Brisbane.

Around 2.17am on April 25, 2023, a ride share driver was held up at knifepoint and his white Toyota Camry with Qld registration 021SPG was stolen at a service station at Cooksley Street and Yulestar Street at Hamilton. It was last seen travelling in Kingsford Smith Drive heading towards the airport.

Around 11.50am on April 25, 2023 a gold Toyota FJ Cruiser was stolen from a Garfield Drive address at Paddington.

These two vehicles were observed possibly travelling together along the M1 heading toward the Gold Coast around 3am this morning by a member of the public who reported them acting suspiciously.

Around 6.37am, this morning, a resident at Fleetwood Court at Helensvale reported offender/s attempting to gain entry to his property. They were observed to be possibly armed with a firearm. He observed the offender/s arrive and leave in the stolen gold Toyota FJ Cruiser, Queensland registration 794YMF.

A report was also received by police of the white Toyota Camry attending a service station at Beaudesert Nerang Road, Nerang, yesterday where the occupants allegedly tried to obtain gift cards using a stolen credit card. The service station suspected the card was stolen and refused their request and they left the business.

Police are continuing with their investigations.
