Unlawful wounding charges at Urangan, QLD

Queensland Police have charged a man following an alleged wounding at Urangan last night, February 1.

It will be alleged around 10pm, the 36-year-old Point Vernon man engaged in a verbal altercation with a 64-year-old man and 57-year-old woman at a Shell Street address.

During that altercation, the 36-year-old man obtained a knife from a nearby building before assaulting the 64-year-old man.

Officers arrived on the scene a short time later and took the man into custody; however, it’s further alleged he resisted police direction and caused damage to the inside of a police vehicle.

The 64-year-old man was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

He has since been charged with two counts each of obstruct police, and one count each of going armed so as to cause fear, serious assault, wounding, wilful damage of police property.

He was refused police bail and is due to appear in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court today, February 2.
