Unlicensed motorcyclist in court over alleged speeding, police pursuit – Liverpool

An unlicensed motorcyclist will face court today charged over an alleged police pursuit through Sydney’s south-west overnight.

Just before 12.30am (Sunday 26 February 2023), officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command were patrolling the Liverpool area when they detected a Suzuki GSXR motorcycle travelling on the Hume Highway with its numberplate obscured.

Officers directed the motorcycle to stop; however, the vehicle allegedly sped away from police and was detected travelling 170km/hr in a 70km/hr zone.

A police pursuit was initiated before it was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.

With assistance from PolAir, officers spotted the motorcycle parked in a driveway in Carmichael Drive, West Hoxton, about 12.50am.

The rider, a 21-year-old man, was located in a nearby bush and was arrested.

He was taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive at speed, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, unlicensed rider, ride an unregistered vehicle and exceed speed over 45km/h.

The West Hoxton man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.
