Unregistered trail bike collides with police vehicle in Western Region

Investigations are underway after an unregistered trail bike and an unmarked police Toyota Landcruiser collided in Chapple Lane, Broken Hill yesterday.

About 4.40pm (Wednesday 23 April 2020), officers from Broken Hill Target Action Group were patrolling the vicinity of Chapple Lane when they saw a trail bike in Chapple lane.

The motorbike was allegedly travelling towards them on the wrong side of the road and in excess of the posted speed limit.

As the police vehicle turned onto Chapple Lane the trailbike collided with it.

The 27-year-old rider was arrested at the scene before being taken to Broken Hill Base Hospital for treatment to minor injuries. He will also undergo blood and urine testing.

The officers were not injured, and inquiries continue.
