UNSW Professor to give keynote address on drug testing of welfare recipients

People on Newstart and Youth Allowance who test positive for methamphetamine, marijuana, ecstasy, heroin and cocaine could be placed on income management or referred to rehabilitation programs, according to a Coalition plan.

UNSW Sydney drug policy scholar, Professor Alison Ritter, will give the keynote address Of Good Character: The Policy of Dialogue on Drug Testing of Welfare Recipients in Australia at the 2019 Australian Social Policy Conference at UNSW Sydney tomorrow morning.

Professor Ritter is the Director of the Drug Policy Modelling Program at the Social Policy Research Centre at UNSW.

She is an NHMRC Senior Research Fellow leading a multi-disciplinary program of research on drug policy.
