Upcoming roadworks to improve Caloundra’s Queen Street

A popular section of road in Caloundra is set to receive a facelift, with upcoming roadworks to deliver essential improvements to the area.

Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said upgrading a substantial section of road in Queen Street was vital to ensuring its longevity.

“It’s a well-used road and these works will strengthen the road subgrade, replace the road pavement and drainage, add a new asphalt wearing surface and new line markings,” Cr Dwyer said.

“Council appreciates roadworks can be an inconvenience and we have waited until the school holidays for the majority of the works to reduce disruptions as much as possible.

“Please follow all safety advice, plan ahead and allow extra time when travelling in the area.

“A traffic management plan will be in place with temporary detours and restricted street access parking.

“Council will continue to fund these important road upgrade projects to ensure the safe transit and connectivity of our communities.”

Night works will be completed for the first stage of works from November 17 to December 6 and will include the complete removal and reconstruction of asphalt pavement (road) west of the school zone to the overpass.

The second stage of works will take place on Queen Street (east bound – northern side) from Bower Street to the Ben Bennett Park Track from December 9 to December 20.

The third and final stage of works will take place from Queen Street (west bound – southern side) from Bower Street to the Ben Bennett Botanical Park Car Park from January 6 to January 24.

Parking restrictions will be in place from 6am to 6pm for the duration of the works and road users should seek to park vehicles on another street or in off-street car parks.

Please be advised all dates are weather and latent conditions dependent.
