Detectives have charged two people with murder following a protracted investigation into the death of a 2-year-old girl in Mackay in December 2022.
It will be alleged the child had been sick for some time and the parents had failed to seek medical treatment for her. She was declared deceased when she was presented to the Mackay Base Hospital on December 29.
Today, Detectives from Mackay Child Protection and Investigation Unit charged a 37-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman, both from North Mackay, with one count each of murder and responsibility to have a birth registered.
Both will appear in Mackay Magistrates Court tomorrow, February 8.
