Northern Territory Police are continuing to investigate the disturbances that occurred in Alice Springs last month.
Early yesterday morning, police arrested a 15-year-old male who had been identified as an outstanding offender. Strike Force Viper and the Dog Operations Unit made the arrest, with police dog Freddy assisting in the tracking of the male at a property in Larapinta. The arrest was made without incident.
The 15-year-old has been charged and remanded to appear in court today.
This comes after two males, aged 12 and 13, were arrested and charged last week relating to the disturbances last month.
Investigations remain ongoing with detectives from Crime Command and Strike Force Viper continuing to work on identifying remaining outstanding offenders.
As part of the emergency situation, the curfew in Alice Springs of the High Risk Area (HRA) has been extended until 6am Tuesday 16 April, with additional police officers arriving in the town from the South Australian Police force yesterday to support local policing efforts. Police continue to patrol not just the HRA, but the wider suburbs as well.
Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Budge said, “Police are continuing to be highly visible across the High Risk Area, as well as the suburbs, both day and night.
“In regards to the curfew we remind young people that, if they do not have a valid reason for being in the area, such as for work, they may be engaged with and directed to leave the High Risk Area.
“The investigations are continuing and we thank the additional police officers arriving from South Australia for their assistance with our police operations.”
