After an intensive three-day search for 31-year-old woman, Celine Cremer, the Belgian tourist has not been located.
Celine was reported missing on 26 June.
Her vehicle was located in the car park of the Philosopher Falls Track on 27 June, and police believe it was there on 20 June, and may have been there as early as 17 June.
Search efforts were formally suspended July 10, new information in relation to Celine’s mobile phone activity provided an additional area of interest within the Philosopher’s Falls Area.
Tasmania Police utilised the NSW Police cadaver dog to search that area across Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Western District Commander Stuart Wilkinson said there had been no sign of Celine during the recent ground searches involving the use of the cadaver dog with crews encountering treacherous weather conditions and navigating difficult terrain.
“While every effort was made during this latest search, sadly, Celine remains missing,” Commander Wilkinson said.
“The searchers faced extremely poor weather conditions, and every effort was made to try and locate her.
“When a person remains missing, the case is never closed. We will continue to follow up any new information we receive in relation to Celine’s disappearance so we can provide closure to her family, and our thoughts remain with them and Celine’s loved ones during this difficult time.”
