Updated Cross Border Travel-Associated Direction 27 June, South Australia

Updates have been made to Cross Border Travel Direction in South Australia in relation to the COVID-19 outbreaks in Australia. Travel restrictions have been imposed for all travellers and all travellers wishing to enter South Australia are encouraged to read the Directions prior to travel.

As of 8.26pm Sunday 27 June 2021 the following restrictions apply for travellers from each state:

Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory and New South Wales

  • People arriving in South Australia from Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory or New South Wales after 8.26pm Sunday 27 June are subject to level 6 restrictions and are not permitted to enter.
  • Permitted Arrivals travelling from Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, Australian Capital Territory, or New South Wales after 8.26pm Sunday 27 June are subject to level 4 restrictions and are permitted to enter South Australia but must quarantine for 14 days, receive COVID-19 tests on days 1, 5 & 13 and must wear a face mask for 14 days (covering their mouth and nose) any time they come into contact with members of the public.
  • Essential Travellers have modified level 4 restrictions and are encouraged to check the Essential Traveller Table located: https://www.covid-19.sa.gov.au/emergency-declarations/cross-border-travel

Victoria

  • Any person (including Essential Travellers and Permitted Arrivals) arriving from Victoria (other than a Tier 1 or Tier 2 exposure site) after 8.26pm Sunday 27 June is subject to modified level 3 restrictions and are permitted to enter South Australia but must receive a COVID-19 test on day 1, self-quarantine until the first test has been taken (but are not required to quarantine while awaiting test results), not enter a high risk setting for 14 days and not attend an event with a COVID Management Plan (more than 1000 people in attendance).
  • People who have been at a COVID-19 Tier 1 or Tier 2 Public Exposure Site as published by the Victorian Government on their relevant website (but not those sites with an exposure date before 20 June 2021) are subject to level 6 restrictions and are not permitted to enter South Australia.
    • People who are escaping domestic violence who have been at a relevant Tier 1 or Tier 2 Exposure Site are subject to level 4 restrictions and are permitted to enter South Australia but must self-quarantine for 14 days, receive COVID-19 tests on days 1, 5 & 13 and must wear a face mask for 14 days (covering their mouth and nose) any time they come into contact with members of the public.
  • People are permitted to transit through the Melbourne airport providing they wear a face mask for the entire time, do not leave the airport while awaiting the flight, and do not spend more than two hours in the airport.

Tasmania

  • People travelling from the Tasmania are not subject to any restrictions upon entering South Australia.

Victoria and New South Wales Cross Border Community Members

  • Victoria and New South Wales Cross Border Community Members who have only been in the cross-border corridor (100 km from the SA / NSW border and 70 km from the SA / VIC border) in the past 14 days are permitted to enter South Australia without restriction.
  • Note- people who arrived into South Australia under a previous Direction from New South Wales are still subject to these restrictions unless directed by an authorised officer.

Important- If a person has entered South Australia under a previous COVID-19 Cross Border Direction they are required to follow those Directions provided to them upon entry unless otherwise instructed by an authorised officer.

The Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel-Associated Direction No 23) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 has been revoked and replaced by the Emergency Management (Cross Border Travel – Associated Direction No 24) (COVID-19) Direction 2021 which came into effect at 8.26pm on Sunday 27 June 2021.
