Upgrade announced for Derby District High School

  • Derby District High School to receive funding for new toilet, shower and laundry facilities
  • A total of $900,000 will be allocated for the project
  • Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery has announced an upgrade at Derby District High School to provide additional facilities for students and staff.

The upgrade will include brand new toilets, showers and a laundry facility for secondary students.

The current toilet facilities are part of the school’s original classroom blocks that were built in the 1960s.

There is a shortage of toilets in these classroom blocks and the existing facilities are in poor condition.

Planning indicates that the initial upgrade will cost around $900,000.

An architect has been appointed to progress the design and scope the future needs of the school.

The school community will be included in the design and planning process to ensure the new facilities meet the requirements of students.

As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

“I was pleased to hear directly from parents on how important this issue is for the community.

“The school will now work with the architect to give its suggestions and feedback on the design of the new facilities.”
