Upgrading Rye Pier For Better Boating And Fishing

  • Minister for Fishing and Boating

Boaters, fishers and other recreational water users can look forward to safer and better access at Rye Pier thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

The Labor Government will invest $500,000 to restore the existing low-landing, build a new ramp to boost access, install more casual public berths and upgrade berthing facilities for larger commercial fishing charter operators.

The new low landing will make it easier for all recreational water users to enjoy the rich marine life and calm waters off Rye Pier.

The recently upgraded boat ramp, kids’ playground and numerous shops and eateries make Rye a popular destination with Victorians and tourists.

The Labor Government is continuing work to establish the Better Boating Fund, which will collect funds from boat registration and marine licenses to use exclusively for boating facility and safety initiatives.

As noted by Minister for Fishing and Boating Jaala Pulford

“An upgrade at Rye Pier is a win for residents and visitors alike who can look forward to better access at one of our communities favorite boating and fishing destinations.”

As noted by Member for Nepean Chris Brayne

“This upgrade is all about making sure this much-loved pier is even better for families who are keen to cast a line or boat in the bay for years to come.”
