Upgrading Tasmania’s 10 Year Infrastructure Pipeline

Michael Ferguson,Minister for Infrastructure and Transport

The latest release of Infrastructure Tasmania’s 10 Year Infrastructure Pipeline forecasts more than $22 billion in planned infrastructure investment, the most substantial capital program in the State’s history. The investment is up from $17 billion last year and reflects the strength of our economy.

The Pipeline demonstrates record-level investment in infrastructure is set to continue, and includes projects across transport, energy, housing, construction and services that underpin the strength of our economy.

This unprecedented pipeline of private and public sector investment shows growing confidence in Tasmania’s economy and future demand.

Investment is planned in every corner of the State and includes the largest transport infrastructure project in Tasmanian history – the Bridgewater Bridge – as well as the supporting infrastructure for our tourism industry such as hotels, golf resorts and other visitor experiences.

For the first time, the 10 Year Infrastructure Pipeline is now available as an interactive dashboard, to provide even greater visibility of projects already underway, as well as those in planning.

We know that for industry to be able to deliver the record-level investment in public and private infrastructure, businesses need to plan their investments and future workforce.

Infrastructure Tasmania has worked closely with industry to redesign the Pipeline as an interactive dashboard that will make it easier for businesses to plan their work, make investment decisions, and build the skilled workforce they need to grow.

The Pipeline maps out longer-term plans for the provision or upgrading of important public building projects including roads, schools, hospitals, bridges and irrigation networks.

The revamped 10 Year Infrastructure Pipeline will continue to be updated at least twice a year, ensuring it remains current. Infrastructure Tasmania is committed to improving the Pipeline with each update and will continue to engage with users to ensure it meets the needs of industry.
