Vaccination numbers to light up sky

South Australians will have access to daily vaccination data to track the state’s vaccination momentum and encourage others to roll up when it is their turn, with digital billboard displays commencing this week.

Minister for Health and Wellbeing said more than a dozen billboards in key locations across the metropolitan area will light up with the state’s vaccination numbers as an ongoing reminder that vaccinating each South Australian helps protects all South Australians.

“We can be very proud of the progress we have made with our rollout here in South Australia. We continue to deliver the most vaccinations per capita of any mainland state,” said Minister Wade.

“The digital billboards will help keep the COVID-19 vaccination program at the forefront of the minds of the community, reminding South Australians to roll up their sleeve when it’s their turn to get vaccinated.

“The billboards are one aspect of a wider marketing campaign including television and radio advertising, as well as digital and social media marketing, all aimed at encouraging South Australians to access the potentially lifesaving vaccine.

“The campaign will help to inform South Australians which people are eligible to receive the vaccine, where they can access it, and how many people have already rolled up to protect themselves, their loved ones and the wider community

“Informing the public with key information is a vital component of the South Australian vaccine roll out and we are committed to ensuring South Australians know how and where they can go to get access to the vital vaccine.

“Last week we saw the highest number of vaccines administered in a single day and this communications campaign, along with the ongoing expansion of our vaccination clinics, will support those numbers to rise even more.”

SA Health’s Chief Public Health Officer, Professor Nicola Spurrier, said South Australians should be very proud of the part they are playing in keeping the state safe.

“Every time we see the number of South Australians vaccinated increase, we know our state is also increasing its protection against this deadly virus,” Professor Spurrier said.

“We will continue to open additional clinics to provide additional avenues for eligible South Australians to access the COVID-19 vaccine.

“The COVID-19 vaccine is voluntary, but highly recommended, because we know that vaccination is highly effective at preventing serious illness and death.

“COVID-19 remains a threat to all of us so we must be vigilant and play our part in stopping the spread of the virus.”

The advertising will feature on digital billboards at 13 locations across the metropolitan area.
