Vale Glenn Britton

Guy Barnett,Minister for Resources

It is with great sadness we recognise the passing of Glenn Britton, a true advocate for Tasmania’s forest industry.

Glenn came from a long line of sawmillers in North-West Tasmania and was recognised all his life across the state and the country as a passionate timber worker and avid supporter of the forestry sector.

I had the privilege of working with Glenn over several decades including the past six years in his role as the Chair of the Forest Industries Association of Tasmania and previously in my role as a Senator for Tasmania.

Glenn was a resolute supporter of a sustainable timber industry, resource security and jobs in regional Tasmania, he fought tooth and nail for the sector and was always a champion for timber communities.

Glenn negotiated hard at a state and federal level and was indefatigable in his efforts to advance the cause for timber communities.

His experience in the industry and his commitment to down stream processing and value-adding was an example of outstanding leadership.

Glenn’s experience will be sorely missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with Glenn’s family at this time.
