Vasey RSL Care Appoints New Chair of Board

Melbourne, 11 December 2019: After almost five years as Chair and 27 years’ service to the Vasey RSL Care Board, Mr David Paroissien OAM FCPA AGIA, is stepping down and Mr Michael O’Meara OAM has been elected to the role.

Mike has served on the Vasey RSL Care Board since April 2015 and has a wealth of experience in the veteran health sector. Mike was Deputy Commissioner, Victoria, Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) from 2007 to 2012 and prior to that, he worked as Director Health and Client Services and as National Manager, Community Health, spending a total of 44 years with DVA.

Mike has served on the Board of the Weary Dunlop Foundation for 18 years and as Chair from 2012 to date. He has recently stepped down from Deputy President of the Board of Carry On Victoria, after serving on the Carry On Board for 4 years.

Mike was awarded an OAM in 2018 in recognition of his services to Veterans and their families and to the community of Kilsyth. In 2000 he received the centenary Australian Sports Medal for services to Australian Rules football.

Mike has used his professional experience on the Board’s Quality and Risk, Finance, and Audit sub-committees and will continue to do so as he takes over the Chair from David.

He has shared his expertise and worked hard to ‘Serve Those Who Served’ and we are very grateful to him.”
