Vegetable farmer wins business of year

Mulgowie Farming Company

Mulgowie Farming Company have been named Business of the Year, and taken home the Agriculture and Horticulture Services award, at the 2019 Lockyer Valley Business Awards.

The awards, held in Gatton last weekend, saw the farmers take out the top spot from a strong field of finalists from a diverse range of industries.

Mulgowie CEO, Fabian Carniel said it was an incredible honour and he dedicated the award to all farmers who work tirelessly to produce fresh healthy food.

“I would like to acknowledge all our fellow farmers, as we come up against drought, fires, floods and storms in a tough marketplace.

“There are already many farmers across the country who are struggling to grow crops due to record low rainfall in what is shaping up to be the worst drought in a century.”

Mr Carniel said the Business of the Year accolade would not have been possible without the hard work, dedication and commitment of Mulgowie Farming Company team members across the country.

“This award is a tribute to our hard-working people who collectively work around the clock to deliver fresh produce to our customers around Australia and internationally.

The company is sending the trophy around to its five farm locations in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria to recognise that all team members have contributed to the win.

While the award judge stated Mulgowie impressed in every area, they also highlighted Mulgowie’s “Independent and professional management structure” which has been guiding the business from a small family-run business to the national farming leader it is today.

It has been a stellar year for Mulgowie farmers, who have also won Australia’s vegetable industry AUSVEG’s Environment and Sustainability award and have been recognised as being number one for excellence in workforce capability by Food & Fibre Gippsland.
