Campaspe Shire Council has welcomed the commitment from the Liberal Nationals to guarantee Victorian Government funding of $3 million to the proposed redevelopment of Victoria Park in Echuca, if elected.

Mayor Chrissy Weller said Council will now seek a commitment from the Andrews Labor Government to also commit to funding for the redevelopment.

“Victoria Park is a major regional recreation space and one of our key advocacy projects that we need funding to support its redevelopment,” Cr Weller said.

“We have an adopted Master Plan for the precinct capturing what is planned, from development of a new multi-use pavilion through to an upgraded road network and new entrance.”

“While some updates to the Master Plan are underway as a result of the construction of the Dhungala Bridge, we need to ensure the reserve can cater to the needs of its users and the community well into the future.”

“We thank Peter Walsh, Member for Murray Plains and the Liberal Nationals for their support and now will seek a similar commitment from their counterparts.”
