Victorians punished as Labor rips away key energy concessions

Liberal Party Victoria

Life continues to get harder for Victorians under Labor as the Allan Government cuts three key energy concession schemes just weeks before Christmas.

More than 250,0000 Victorian households who receive the property charge concession, the controlled-load electricity concession and the electricity transfer waiver have begun to be notified that these concessions will soon be discontinued.

These concessions have been cut as Labor’s record debt continues to grow towards $200 billion over coming years.

Shadow Minister for Energy, Affordability and Security, David Davis, said: “Under Labor, Victoria is broke and life continues to get harder for Victorians.

“Instead of supporting Victorians on low and fixed incomes during a cost-of-living crisis, Labor is cutting vital energy bill concessions just weeks before Christmas.

“These concessions provided cost-of-living relief to hundreds of thousands of Victorians, but have been ripped away by Labor because they have driven Victoria broke.

“Jacinta Allan’s promise to lower power prices through the SEC has proved to be a con with bills for households jumping by 25 per cent.”
