Volunteers are the change makers of our community – East Gippsland

National Volunteer Week will be celebrated across East Gippsland from 15-21 May acknowledging the important role volunteers play in our community.

Volunteers help build our community and make it a better place for everyone. Volunteers are the change makers, they put in an incredible amount of hard work in keeping our community connected and stronger.

Mayor Cr Mark Reeves said we have hundreds of volunteers who devote countless hours to our community.

“Volunteers range from individuals and groups running community events, sporting clubs, social and service clubs, fundraise for equipment, help those less fortunate, care for our environment and we want to say a huge thank you,” Cr Reeves said.

To celebrate National Volunteer Week, East Gippsland Shire Council is hosting complimentary events throughout the region to recognise every volunteer for everything that they do for the community and a chance to say thank you.

Council invites all volunteers from all walks of life to join us for a celebration at the following locations:

Wednesday 17 May at 7.30 am – Johnsonville Hall for breakfast
