A Wallaroos and Wallabies double header on July 6 headlines a jampacked international season on home soil as Rugby Australia confirms their inbound Test fixtures for 2024.
In a year where the team will play in the four most populated cities in Australia, the Wallabies welcome Wales back to home soil for the first time in more than a decade with the first of a two-Test series being held at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium on July 6.
The match will follow the Wallaroos clash against Fijiana at the same venue, with the women in gold looking to build on their strong finish to their 2023 campaign where they recorded wins over France and Wales in the inaugural WXV tournament.
Prior to the Fijiana Test, the Wallaroos will compete in the 2024 Pacific Four Series, with home fixtures against Canada at Allianz Stadium on May 11 and the United States of America at AAMI Park in Melbourne on May 17, both double headers with Super Rugby Pacific fixtures.
In what will be the most Tests on home soil for the side in a calendar year (four), their final inbound international will see them run out at the newly renovated Ballymore Stadium in Brisbane against current Rugby World Cup holders New Zealand on July 14 in the second O’Reilly Cup Test for 2024.
With the Wallabies looking to move on from a disappointing 2023 season, the side’s second Test against Wales will be held one week later at Melbourne’s AAMI Park on Saturday July 13. The Wallabies will need to win the series against Warren Gatland’s side to regain the James Bevan Trophy.
A week later the Wallabies will return to Allianz Stadium against another 2023 Rugby World Cup Pool C opponent in Georgia. It will be the first time ever the Wallabies and the Lelos have met outside of a Rugby World Cup.
In a massive win for Rugby fans in Australia, the 2024 Rugby Championship will see back-to-back Rugby World Cup Champions South Africa play the Wallabies twice in Australia, with the first meeting between the two sides at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on August 10.
The two sides will then cross the country, with the return match against Siya Kolisi’s Springboks to be held at Perth’s Optus Stadium on Saturday August 17.
The Wallabies sixth and final Test on home soil next year sees New Zealand return to Sydney’s Accor Stadium on September 21 for the first Bledisloe Cup Test of 2024. The All Blacks having last played in the Harbour City back in 2020.
