Organisations keen to help reduce waste and increase material recovery can now apply for their share of $150,000 as part of the WasteSorted Community Education grant program.
The grants are administered by the Waste Authority and have provided more than $7.4 million for waste management initiatives in Western Australia since 2017. Grants of up to $25,000 per project are available for waste avoidance and resource recovery education programs.
Community organisations, charitable recycling organisations, local governments, regional councils, peak industry bodies, businesses, and research and educational institutions are all encouraged to apply.
Funding for waste avoidance and resource recovery education will focus on materials including food and garden organics, construction and demolition waste, glass, metals, paper and cardboard, plastics, textiles, and non-household hazardous waste.
A webinar on how to apply for a WasteSorted grant will be held at 12pm on August 4, 2022.

“The McGowan Government has set a target towards reusing or recycling at least 75 per cent of waste generated in Western Australia by 2030.
“WasteSorted Community Education grants inform and encourage behaviour change in the community to support Western Australia’s goal of becoming a sustainable, low-waste circular economy.
“I urge community, business and local government groups to get behind improving avoidance, recovery and reuse of waste in WA, and apply for WasteSorted grant funding.”
