Australia wrapped up their PacificAus Sport International Futsal Series with an exciting win on Wednesday night, defeating the Solomon Islands 5-3 at The Centre in Dural.
The result marked a second win on the bounce for the Futsalroos, following Monday’s 3-2 victory and a 1-1 stalemate played out between the two nations on Saturday.
In an action-packed first half, Australia burst out of the blocks to a three-goal lead.
Jordan Gurreiro tapped home a well-worked move to open the scoring inside two minutes, before popping up to double the lead after eight.
Three minutes later Daniel Fogarty opened his body up and slotted in Australia’s third, to the delight of the strong home crowd.
However two minutes later, the game looked a whole lot different.
It was Charlie Otainao who sparked the Kuru Kuru fight-back, scoring a pair of goals in quick succession to bring the score back to 3-2.

The first-half scoring spree wasn’t done there, however, as Daniel Fornito tapped in Australia’s fourth with five minutes of the half remaining.
The 17th minute saw Otainao register his hat-trick, powering a strike inside the far post.
The second half turned out to be a closer affair, with only the solitary goal scored.
It came in the 23rd minute, moments after a red card was shown to Cliford Misitana, with Fogarty ensuring Australia capitalised on their momentary advantage in personnel.
Despite plenty of chances at either end, a night of heroics from both Anthony Talo and Domenic Badolato ensured the score would end 5-3 to the Futsalroos.
Both teams were greeted with rapturous applause at the full time whistle, with Australia enjoying a 2-0 series victory on home soil.
