Water sector seeking board members

DELWP

Expressions of interest open until late March 2023

Victoria’s water boards provide vital services to manage our water and sewerage systems and are calling for Expressions of Interest in 115 board positions in 2023.

Expressions of Interest in water board applications opened on 27 February and will close in a month, with appointments to be announced in September 2023.

As we live with climate change and a drier future, our water sector is committed to achieving world-leading targets – reducing its emissions by 100% (net-zero) by 2035.

We want our sector represented by people invested in the future of water security in Victoria.

The boards of our 18 water corporations and nine Catchment Management Authorities are increasingly representing our diverse communities, with women making up 58% of board members, and 12 Aboriginal members.

They are responsible for managing each water corporation’s strategic planning and day-to-day affairs.

We encourage First Peoples to apply for positions to help shape our water future. First Peoples board members explain in this video how they have approached their contribution to building water security in Victoria.

Do you know anyone who may want to apply?

The selection process will be led by an independent panel, to ensure a balance between renewal of boards and retention of corporate knowledge.
