Wellington welcomes new Development General Manager

Wellington Shire Council has welcomed a new General Manager Development, Brent McAlister to the team.

Mr McAlister comes to Wellington with more than 20 years’ experience in local government at a senior management level, most recently at Tamworth Regional Council where he was the Director Planning and Compliance and previous to that the Director Sustainable Development at Lismore City Council.

Mr McAlister and his wife Del decided to relocate to Victoria to be closer to their daughters and grandchild.

“After exploring the region, we decided to settle in Sale because my wife and I love the streetscapes, the historic nature of the trees and the beautiful natural areas including Lake Guthridge and the botanic gardens,” Mr McAlister said.

“I am an experienced town planner and have specific expertise in placemaking, town centre revitalisation and economic development.

“I am very much looking forward to working with our Wellington Shire Councillors and the community to enhance our town centres with the right mixture of lifestyle, business, events and tourism.”

Wellington Shire Council chief executive David Morcom said Mr McAlister was chosen from the strong field of candidates.

“We welcome Brent McAlister to the Wellington team and I am pleased to say he has already hit the ground running, providing some very important strategic insights and previous experience that I have no doubt will have a positive impact on our work here at Wellington.”
