Wentworth Shire Council supports Wear it Orange Wednesday

Wentworth Shire Council will light up the PS Ruby in orange on the night of Wednesday 19 May in support of the State Emergency Service’s Wear it Orange Wednesday.

Wear it Orange Wednesday, or WoW Day, helps the SES celebrate its volunteers.

While the service’s primary focus is to protect local communities from storms and floods its volunteers also make invaluable contributions by supporting other emergency service agencies in road crash rescues, vertical rescues and even as first responders.

Wentworth Shire Council Mayor Susan Nichols said Council was pleased to support all the Shire’s volunteers across all fields and services.

“Volunteers are the lifeblood of country communities and it is great to acknowledge them wherever possible,” Cr Nichols said.

“I thank the SES for their tireless work in our communities and wish them all the best in their service.”

The lighting up of the PS Ruby for WoW day follows the Ruby being lit in yellow on Sunday 16 May for National Road Safety Week and then green and blue on Monday and Tuesday for the Murray Darling Association National Conference.
