Western Australia coronovirus update as at 8 May 2021

The Department of Health has reported no new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

The State’s total number remains at 1013.

WA Health is monitoring 22 active cases of COVID-19 and 982 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

To date, the WA Department of Health has administered 112,605 COVID-19 vaccinations, including 26,333 people who have received both doses. Yesterday, 2310 people were vaccinated.

Yesterday 433 people were assessed for testing at WA Health COVID clinics and 432 were swabbed.

There have been 1,112,253 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of these, 145,594 have been from regional WA.

To date, 68 cases of variant strains of concern have been detected in Western Australia – including 52 of the B.1.1.7 strain, 15 of the B.1.351 strain and one of the P1 variant (Brazilian variant).
