Western Australia Covid update as at 25 August 2023

WA Health is reporting a total of 735 new cases in the past week to 4pm yesterday (24/08/2023).

Of the cases reported, 107 PCR results are from the regions and were received in a backlog of data from June and July 2023. (This has been captured in the Weekly Surveillance Report).

As of 4pm yesterday, there were 348 active cases in Western Australia.

As at 4pm yesterday, there were a total of 49 people with COVID-19 in hospital.

Sadly, this week’s report to 4pm yesterday includes seven deaths, dating back to June 2023, which were reported to WA Health in the last week, aged from 66 to 96 years.

Total PCR tests for the timeframe were 4,771.

Total positive PCR tests for the timeframe were 242. Total positive rapid antigen tests (RATs) in this period were 493.

WA has recorded 1,352,847 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Anyone experiencing symptoms is strongly encouraged to stay home if they’re unwell, and until symptoms have resolved.
