Wetherill Park RES investigators have charged a man as part of an investigation into the supply of methylamphetamine and GHB across Sydney’s south west.
In May this year, detectives from Wetherill Park Region Enforcement Squad (RES) established Strike Force Opel to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs across Sydney’s south west.
Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigations, with assistance from South West Metropolitan Operations Support Group (OSG), arrested a 29-year-old man at a hotel at Ingleburn about 9.45am yesterday (Tuesday 4 August 2020).
Officers seized two mobile phones and $6510 cash following a search of the man.
As part of inquiries, police conducted Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) and Weapons Prohibition Order (WPO) searches at a home at Ashcroft a short time later.
Investigators seized methylamphetamine and steroids, as well as weapons including swords, tomahawks and axes.
All seized items will undergo further examination.
The man was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and subsequently charged with supply prohibited drug (large commercial quantity), supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis and knowingly deal with proceeds of crime.
Police will allege in court that the man was involved in the supply of methylamphetamine and GHB (gamma hydroxybutyrate) across Sydney’s south-west between July and August this year.
He was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today (Wednesday 5 August 2020).
