What can you find on your walk to school?

There’s never been a better time to walk to school! Primary school students have returned to the classroom and we’re calling on all kids and their families take part in the VicHealth Walk to School program supported by the Mornington Peninsula Shire and Peninsula Health. It’s time to leave the car at home, tie up the shoelaces and walk, scoot or ride to school.

Active travel to school has great community benefits as it reduces traffic congestion, saves on parking and creates an opportunity to spend more time with friends and family.

To make the trip to school extra fun we are encouraging families to participate in a weekly photo competition. The competition will run from 2 to 20 November with four nature-based treasure hunts.

Each week students will need to find the treasure and take a photo for their adult to share on Instagram using the hashtags #walkmornpen and #walktoschool.

The top four pictures will be shared on Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Instagram @ourpeninsula at the end of each week for the community to vote for their favourite. The student behind the picture with most votes will take home a box of fresh fruit and vegetables from a local farm gate.
