Respected history experience makers and presenters will be sharing some intriguing stories – online as part of Ballarat’s virtual Heritage Weekend – History at Home Series (May 30 & 31).
Nathaniel Buchanan of Eerie Tours runs a series of Dark Histories tours during Heritage Weekend, covering a range of exciting stories from ghostly encounters, murder, mystery and intrigue from the 1800 and 1900s.
For this year’s virtual edition of Ballarat Heritage Weekend, Nathaniel brings us a sneak peek into his tour experience with some highlights from the Old Cemetery, the Old Gaol and the Ballarat Town Hall.
Nathaniel’s tour experiences bring visitors from all around Victoria and Australia seeking out his Dark Tourism offering.
This year, his tales will be available to a worldwide online audience.
“Bringing the content online, allows us to share pieces of this unique experience in a different way. We are hopeful it will entice more visitors to engage with the event once our doors are open again,” he said.
Dr David Waldron, history lecturer at Federation University is also contributing to this year’s virtual edition of Ballarat Heritage Weekend with intriguing stories of 1800s folklore and ‘curious marks’ in a well- known historic building along Sturt Street.
Dr Waldron has a wealth of knowledge on folklore and customs and traditions of the Goldfields.
