What’s happening at your community centre

From cooking and craft classes to spiritual wellbeing sessions, playgroup and yoga, there’s something for all tastes and ages at Felltimber and Baranduda community centres.

Our term two program is in full swing with the Pop-Up Italian Cafe and Back to Basics with Bob events attracting plenty of people.

Come along to our next Pop-Up Italian Cafe at Baranduda Community Centre on May 27 where we will be cooking gnocchi (meat and vegetarian) and the June 24 event will be lasagne.

Cost is $15 adults, $10 children and bookings are essential on (02) 6020 8643.

Do you have children who would like to learn how to sew?

Send them along to Mary’s Afternoon Activities – Sewing at Baranduda Community Centre on May 12 and May 19.

These hands-on sessions for children provide the opportunity to learn life skills they can use for years to come, led by home economics teacher and CWA member Mary Grant.

In this two-part session, held on May 12 and 19, learn the ins and outs of the sewing machine. In the second session, sew a flip and a potholder to take home.

Cost is $25 and covers both sessions.

Bookings are essential as places are limited. Phone Baranduda Community Centre on (02) 6020 8643.

Baranduda Community Centre also hosts a men’s cooking session – Back to Basics with Bob – Cooking for Blokes.

Upcoming sessions will be held on May 20, June 17 and July 15.

Other sessions at Baranduda Community Centre include a qualification in first aid – Provide First Aid on May 13 and those looking for support in finding a job can attend Jobs Victoria Advocates each Monday at the centre.

Over at Felltimber Community Centre we host fortnightly Community Cooking classes on Wednesdays between 6pm and 8pm.

Come along to learn and share cooking skills with the help of our passionate community cooking facilitator.

Craft ‘n’ Cuppa is always a popular event with people bringing along their current project.

The sessions run each Friday from 12.30pm to 2.30pm.

A new event for Felltimber Community Centre is Wayapa Wuurrk Ancient Earth Mindfulness – where participants will learn how to use wisdom from the distant past to create a better present and future.

Join us for lessons on how to use the Indigenous Wayapa Wuurrk practice to focus on taking care of our Earth as a way of building ‘earth, mind, body, spirit’ wellbeing.

Cost is $15 per session, $10 with concession card and bookings are essential. Phone Felltimber Community Centre on (02) 6043 4550.
