What’s on at library this summer?

As the sun shines brighter and school bells ring their final goodbyes, the Kempsey Shire Libraries are gearing up for an exciting range of events and competitions designed to spark the imagination and foster a love for reading among children these summer holidays.

From storytelling sessions to interactive workshops, the library wants every child to find a way to engage with the magic of books. Get involved in all the summer activities including:

Piper the Story Dog

Get into the Christmas spirit with a special Christmas visit from Piper the Story Dog at the Kempsey Library this Friday 15 December 2023 from 10:30-11:30am.

Piper and her human Helen will read some jolly stories, there will be Christmas craft, music and of course, lots of time for pats.

Summer Reading Club

The Summer Reading Club is about building a community of young readers who are eager to explore, learn, and have fun.

Children aged 3-18 years are invited to visit your local Kempsey Shire Library to collect a Summer Reading Club Passport. In the passport there are 16 reading challenges for participants to complete over the summer.

Every Summer Reading Club entrant that completes 10+ challenges will be invited to the Wrap Up Party at Kempsey Majestic Cinemas on Saturday 3 February 2024.

Summer Reading Club entrants that complete all 16 challenges will go into the running to win the Major Prize!
