Where to store nuclear waste?

Australian Conservatives Release

The question of the storage of nuclear waste has raised its head again with several sites in remote and outback Australia suggested.

The Conservative Party wants nuclear energy to be considered as part of finding a solution to our energy crisis and that would make the need for nuclear waste disposal even more pressing.

Many people have suggested the already highly-contaminated Maralinga, the site of British nuclear tests in the 1950s and 60s or the rocket range at Woomera.

But as the Conservative Party’s South Australian Senate candidate Rikki Lambert told Andrew Reimer on Adelaide radio station FIVEaa, nuclear waste is already being stored in metropolitan areas all over Australia.
