Wollongong City Council is putting out the call for people to nominate someone who is an exceptional community member with the City of Wollongong Award nominations opening for 2024.
There are eleven award categories in total including:
- Citizen of the Year
- Senior Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Rising Star Award
- Environmental Achievement Award
- Arts and Cultural Achievement Award
- Sports Achievement Award
- Innovation Achievement Award
- Community Group of the Year
- Diversity and Inclusion Award
- Wollongong to the World Award.

Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said that the City of Wollongong Awards aim to acknowledge the people and organisations who make Wollongong a better place.
“The City of Wollongong Awards are about celebrating the everyday people who are doing fantastic things in their community to make Wollongong a great place to call home,’ Cr Bradbery said.
“This is an annual event and over the years we’ve recognised an extraordinary list of people who are inspiring and committed to doing good. Last year, we awarded the three top awards —Citizen, Young Citizen and Senior Citizen — to three incredible women, Sally Stevenson AM, Shannon Fox, and Nyan Thit Tieu.”
