Residents looking for work can access scores of outdoor and indoor jobs at the City of Greater Geelong, through the Victorian Government’s Working for Victoriainitiative.
The Government’s $500 million program is creating employment opportunities, including for those who have lost their jobs due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The City of Greater Geelong is seeking new employees to fill about 160 full-time and part-time positions, which are available for a fixed term of six months.
A total of 68 positions that deliver vital community services will be advertised in this phase of recruitment.
These positions include administration officers; data analysts and collection officers; support officers; healthy communities education officers; welfare contact officers; graffiti removal; cleaners and sanitisation team members.
The remaining roles will be offered in two further stages during September.
Residents are eligible to take part in the program if they are legally able to work in Victoria and are either unemployed or experiencing a significant reduction in their income.

Redeployment and further support
The new range of jobs on offer for the community follows action to secure ongoing work for City employees affected by Stage 3 ‘Stay at Home’ facility closures.
The redeployment programhas seen a marked uptake in this second period of COVID-19 restrictions.
The City has found valuable roles for more than 300 employees, with others choosing to access leave entitlements or pursue other options.
There was a total of 247 employees who found alternative work with the City during the first COVID-19 shutdown.
The jobs initiatives are part of the City’s wider focus on providing relief and support that will help the region’s economic and social recovery.
Council has budgeted about $12.8 million in financial hardship and support measures since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
