Winter holiday campaign to warm WA visitors’ hearts

  • Co-operative marketing campaign targets east coast market
  • Affordable airfares to Perth from $199 one-way
  • Partnership between State Government, through Tourism WA, and Virgin Australia
  • A new affordable airfare campaign is enticing visitors from the east coast to visit Western Australia during the winter months.

Launched this week, the co-operative marketing campaign is a partnership between the State Government, through Tourism Western Australia, and Virgin Australia.

Fares from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to Perth will be on sale from $199 one-way, with the campaign running until May 29, 2019, or until the fares are sold out.

The Virgin Australia co-operative marketing campaign includes social media and digital advertising, and is part of an ongoing two-year agreement between the airline and Tourism WA.

This co-operative campaign is supported by a Tourism WA-led ‘Plan a Perth Reunion’ campaign, which aims to attract Western Australians who now live on the east coast to visit the State and reunite with family and friends.

The reunion campaign runs until mid-June and will be further supported through TripAdvisor digital advertising.

The digital advertising will promote attractions in Perth and the surrounding area to those who engaged online with the Tourism WA-led campaign, and suggest a range of options to enjoy as part of their holiday itinerary.

As stated by Tourism Minister Paul Papalia:

“The Virgin Australia co-operative marketing campaign aims to drive visitation from the east coast over the winter period and uses a competitive airfare to create an urgency to book.

“Perth boasts vibrant nightlife and a wide range of new bars, restaurants and cafes.

“I encourage those who haven’t come home to WA for a while to take advantage of these affordable airfares and experience Perth’s fantastic transformation firsthand.

“It is also a perfect opportunity for sports fans, with the travel dates aligning with some of the key highlights from our blockbuster 2019 calendar of events at Optus Stadium which also hosts AFL games.

“The chance to see Manchester United matches against Perth Glory or Leeds United in July with friends and family could be among the highlights of a trip back to WA.

“This initiative is part of the McGowan Government’s priority to partner with airlines in order to provide better value and improved aviation access to and within Western Australia.”
