Wishy-washy White rolled on parliament stunt

Members,

Rebecca White’s leadership is being seriously questioned once again by Dean Winter.

Yesterday Ms White sent Josh Willie out to confirm Labor could not be less interested in progressing COI recommendations and would instead pursue political stunts.

It has now become clear that is because she got rolled in the caucus meeting.

On Sunday Ms White said: “We haven’t had a caucus room meeting yet to discuss whether or not we’ll be moving a no-confidence motion in the government…” *

Today, however, Mr Winter proudly proclaimed on ABC radio that, “Irrespective of whether we went back on time…we were always going to be moving no confidence in the Premier and in his government.” **

Both of these things can’t be true.

Labor either had a position on Sunday that Ms White couldn’t agree with, or Mr Winter hadn’t told Ms White about his plan.

It’s pretty clear Ms White knows how poor these bald-faced political tactics look for Labor.

If Ms White disagrees with her party’s tactics, she needs to stand up to her partyroom and withdraw their stunt.

Tasmanians expect their Members of Parliament to get on with the job of passing laws – not engaging in political games.
