Witness appeal for vehicle and bike damage

Police are appealing for witnesses after a vehicle and three bicycles were damaged last month in Parkville.

Investigators have been told a man approached three bicycles locked to a bike rack located at the rear entrance of the Melbourne Zoo off Poplar Road on 21 January about 7.45pm.

The male stabbed the rear tyres of the three bicycles causing damage.

He then walked west along the footpath next to the route 58 tram tracks before approaching a vehicle in the car park.

The offender smashed the rear and both left side passenger windows with a hammer before running west through Royal Park towards Flemington Road, North Melbourne.

Police have released images of a man they believe can assist them with their enquiries.

The man is perceived to be Caucasian, about 35-years-old, medium build, bald and wearing a grey t-shirt with a large Micky Mouse logo on the front, black shorts, white headphones, black socks, black and white shoes.

He was carrying a small kitchen knife, a walking stick and black backpack.
