Monster Halloween Auction With World Record In Sight

Lloyds Auctions

Key Facts:

  • Australian auction house Lloyds Auctions plans to auction more than 5,000 lots in a single day on 31 October 2026, in an attempt to break the current Guinness World Records benchmark of 1,033 items auctioned within 24 hours.
  • More than 20 separate auctions are scheduled across the day, covering a wide range of categories including Rolex watches, luxury jewellery, LEGO, classic cars, fine art, diamonds, and heavy machinery.
  • The current published record stands at 1,033 items, set in Switzerland in November 2024, though Lloyds has not confirmed whether the event has been submitted for formal Guinness adjudication.
  • A headline lot is a 1998 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster previously owned by singer Rod Stewart and later by Australian businessman and former Geelong mayor Darryn Lyons, offered as part of Lyons’ living estate sale.
  • All auctions will be conducted online through the Lloyds Auctions website, with bidders able to view catalogues and participate digitally throughout the day.

An Australian auction house will put more than 5,000 lots under the hammer this Saturday in a single day of sales, as Lloyds Auctions attempts to surpass the current published benchmark for the most items auctioned in 24 hours during a Halloween auction event on 31 October 2026.

More than 20 separate auctions are scheduled to run across the day. The sale will include Rolex watches, luxury jewellery, LEGO, classic cars, fine art, diamonds and heavy machinery, making it one of the largest single-day auction events staged by the company.

“We’ve had large sales before, but nothing on this scale in 24 hours,” said Lee Hames, Chief Operations Officer, Lloyds Auctions. “Almost every category of goods we would normally auction across a much longer period is being offered in one day, which makes this a significant operational exercise as well as a high-interest event for bidders.”

Among the headline assets is a 1998 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster formerly owned by singer Rod Stewart and later by Australian businessman and former Geelong mayor Darryn Lyons, with the vehicle forming part of Lyons’ living estate sale. The broader auction lineup ranges from luxury and collectible items through to industrial and commercial assets, reflecting the diversity of stock Lloyds handles across its national auction operations.

“This is not about a single showcase item, but the sheer scale and spread of assets going through the platform on the same day,” Mr Hames said. “From premium luxury pieces through to volume categories with broad buyer appeal, the mix reflects the range of goods that come through our auctions every month.”

The current published Guinness World Records benchmark stands at 1,033 items auctioned in 24 hours, achieved in Switzerland in November 2024. Lloyds Auctions is aiming to exceed that figure with its Halloween event, although the company has not confirmed whether the sale has been submitted for formal Guinness adjudication or what verification process may apply.

“The public interest comes from both the volume and the variety,” Mr Hames said. “It is unusual to see this many assets across so many categories compressed into a single day, and that creates a very different auction environment.”

All auctions will be conducted online on Saturday, 31 October 2026, through www.lloydsauctions.com.au, with bidders able to view catalogues and participate digitally across the full day of sales.
