Witness appeal to aggravated carjacking in Parkville

Melbourne Embona Robbery Taskforce detectives are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated carjacking in Parkville on Monday morning.

The incident happened on Old Poplar Road on 19 November at 8am.

Investigators have been told that the victim, a 65-year-old Brunswick man, had just left a nearby golf club and was driving east on Old Poplar Road when he was blocked by a dark-coloured SUV.

The victim stopped his car, 2019 Silver Subaru Impreza, with registration 1OO 1DS, and was approached by a man from the SUV.

The man pulled the victim from his car and threw him to the ground, producing a small black pistol.

A struggle took place, with the offender taking the car keys from the victim.

The victim managed to take the pistol from the offender and throw it further down the street.

The offender got into the victim’s car and drove away with his co-offender also driving from the scene.

The victim was not injured in the incident and after locating the pistol it was determined to be an imitation.

Investigators have released an image of the victim’s car and a computer-generated image of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the carjacking or anyone with dash cam footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
