Wolgan Road Investigation and Repair

Lithgow Council

On Saturday 18 December, Lithgow City Council commenced urgent works related to the recent failure of sections of Wolgan Road.

These are priority works in response to the damage caused by earlier and recent significant rainfall in the region. Council is committed to re-opening the road to a level of full operation as soon as possible.

Over the next week, protection of the exposed faces will occur along with geotechnical investigation of the subgrade. This will minimise the risk of further erosion and failure.. These works will then feed into the design of the restoration works which leads to complete re-opening of the road.

The Wolgan Road will be closed for the times listed below to allow heavy machines to be parked on the road, conduct tests and remove loose material from the slopes above the road.
