Woman and child seriously injured in crash, NSW

Police are investigating after a woman and boy were seriously injured in a crash on the state’s South Coast yesterday.

Just before 2pm (Thursday 20 August 2020), emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, near Kaylaur Crescent, at Albion Park Rail, after a Mitsubishi Lancer and Toyota Hiace van collided head-on in the southbound lane.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 48-year-old woman, was taken to Wollongong Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A two-year-old boy was airlifted to Sydney Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition, while a four-year-old girl was taken to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.

The Toyota driver, a 28-year-old man, was treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
