A woman has been charged after the body of an infant was located in Sydney’s south west last month.
About 11.20am on Monday 31 August 2026, emergency services were called to Harrow Road, Auburn, following reports the body of a baby had been located in a garbage bin.
Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command attended and located the body of a newborn boy.
Police established a crime scene, and detectives commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Alenor.
Following extensive inquiries, about 6.45am today (Thursday 17 September 2026), investigators executed a crime scene warrant at a unit on Harrow Road, Auburn.
A short time later, police spoke with a 24-year-old woman – who is believed to be the mother of the infant – at another address in Auburn before she was taken to hospital for assessment.
Upon release from hospital, the woman was arrested and taken to Auburn Police Station.
The 24-year-old was charged with mother alone conceal birth by disposing body.
She was granted conditional bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court (John Maddison Tower) on Tuesday 27 October 2026.
