Woman charged over alleged North Coast murder – Strike Force Nome

A woman has been charged after a man’s body was found at a rural property in state’s north yesterday.

Emergency services were called to a property in Darkwood – about 67km west of Coffs Harbour – 7pm on Thursday (22 August 2024), following reports a body had been found.

Officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District attended and found the body of a 62-year-old man in a surfboard bag on the driveway of the property.

A crime scene was established, and officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District – with assistance of officers from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad – established Strike Force Nome to investigate the death.

Following extensive inquiries, about 2.10pm yesterday (Friday 23 August 2024), officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District arrested a 35-year-old woman on Loftus Street, Nambucca Heads.

She was taken to Macksville Police Station where she was charged with murder (domestic violence). Police will be alleging in court the woman and man were known to each other.

She has been refused bail overnight to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court today (Saturday 24 August 2024).
