Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal crash in Yarraville yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the crash, in a carpark off High Street, on Sunday 16 April just after 1pm.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are still being established however police have been told a man was reversing his car into a carpark when he accelerated forward.
The vehicle struck a woman before hitting a wall and stopping a short distance away.
The 38-year-old woman, from Werribee, was taken to hospital where she later died.
The 48-year-old driver, from Werribee, was interviewed by MCIU detectives and has been released pending further enquiries.
