Woman dies after crash, NSW

A woman has died following a crash on the Central Coast yesterday.

About 8.15pm (Friday 16 October 2020), emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway near Colongra Bay Road, Lake Munmorah, after reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Police believe a Subaru WRX travelling south and a Toyota Landcruiser travelling north collided, before the Toyota struck a power pole.

The driver of the Toyota, a 29-year-old woman, died at the scene. Her passenger, a five-month-old girl, was freed from the vehicle by witnesses, before being taken to John Hunter Hospital for observation.

The driver of the Subaru, a 34-year-old man, was taken to John Hunter Hospital under police guard for mandatory testing and observation. His 28-year-old male passenger was also transported with minor injuries.

Officers from Tuggerah Lake Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic police.

The Crash Investigation Unit have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, and anyone with information that may assist is urged to come forward.
