Woman injured after car flips during crash in Bangor

A woman is undergoing treatment in hospital after being injured in a serious crash in the Sutherland Shire this morning.

Just after 11.30am (Wednesday 25 December 2019), officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command responded following reports a Nissan Micra had flipped onto its roof after colliding with a Suzuki Swift on the Bangor Bypass, Bangor, before coming to rest against a Mitsubishi Triton.

The Nissan driver – a 75-year-old woman – was trapped for a short time before being freed by emergency services.

She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a laceration to her arm and taken to St George Hospital in a stable condition, while the 28-year-old male driver of the Suzuki was taken to Sutherland Hospital as a precaution. The Mitsubishi driver was uninjured.

The road was closed for more than an hour by officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, assisted by the Transport Management Centre, while local police conducted inquiries.

Investigations are continuing.
