Work to start on second phase of Two Rocks Marina redevelopment

  • Work will start in February on major landscaping project at Two Rocks Marina
  • Contract awarded to local indigenous company, Carey MC Pty Ltd
  • Continues $15 million transformation of Two Rocks Marina
  • The redevelopment of Two Rocks Marina will take another major step forward next month with work starting on a $3.1 million project to improve the southern foreshore area.

    The Southern Foreshore Landscaping Project is part of the second phase of redevelopment at the marina and includes the construction of new toilet facilities and additional parking as well as improving paths, services, landscaping and furniture in the area.

    The contract has been awarded to local indigenous company, Carey MC Pty Ltd and will create and support local jobs.

    Work has been scheduled following the school holidays to reduce impacts to facility users.

    There will be continued access to the boat launching facilities throughout the project, which is due for completion mid-year.

    Since the Department of Transport resumed operation of the facility in late 2014, almost $19 million has been spent upgrading Two Rocks Marina including;

    • the removal of 14 abandoned vessels;
    • the installation of new modern floating jetties and replacement of the aged, fixed P Jetty;
    • refurbishment of the West-Link Jetty;
    • removal of the original fuel jetty and;
    • improvements to the breakwater structure.

    The project aligns with the Two Rocks Marina Master Plan, completed in December 2019 in close consultation with Two Rocks Marina Redevelopment Reference Group and wider stakeholder groups, providing an aspirational long-term vision for the marina.

    As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:

    “This is another important step forward for the Two Rocks Marina upgrade, which will deliver long awaited improvements while implementing the long-term vision for the Marina.

    “The contract has been awarded to local indigenous company Carey MC Pty Ltd, in Malaga which anticipates during construction approximately 8 direct and 26 indirect jobs will be created and supported.

    “This project is transforming an iconic northern suburbs marina, while also supporting local jobs and providing opportunities for local businesses.”

    As stated by Butler MLA John Quigley:

    “The awarding of this contract is another step forward in transforming the Two Rocks Marina, into a major destination that can be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

    “I look forward to seeing works start next month and can’t wait to see the improvements this phase of the project will deliver.”
